Woman moved, left dog: police

GLOVERSVILLE – City police allege a woman left a dog in an apartment after she moved, causing the canine to eat garbage.

April M. Morey, 35, of 3 W. Eighth Ave., was charged Saturday with cruelty to animals and animal abandonment.

Police said Morey was charged after an investigation into an animal complaint at 60 Prospect Ave. Officers discovered a white male pit bull dog was abandoned at the location, police said.

The dog was denied food and water, police said, causing the dog to consume garbage for sustenance.

Police said officers learned Morey had moved from the location and left the dog in the vacant apartment.

Morey was processed and issued an appearance ticket.
