AMSTERDAM – The Montgomery County SPCA was burglarized last week with around $1,000 in cash stolen from its office, according to members of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Investigator Robert Gracia said the burglary occurred sometime the night of July 29 or the morning of July 30. He said the intruder or intruders broke into the building through an unsecured window. The intruder or intruders entered the office and stole the office’s cash and donation boxes before exiting.
Gracia said the money was in a safe, out-of-the-way area.
“It was out of sight, but someone with a flashlight could have seen it,” he said.
The SPCA did not respond to calls and emails seeking comment.
