Woman stole purse worth $1,450: police

GLOVERSVILLE – City police said a woman was arrested on a warrant Thursday because of a February incident when she allegedly stole a designer purse valued at more than $1,000.

Tina A. Hillman, 36, of 44 Montgomery St., apartment 2, charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony.

Police Capt. John Sira said on Feb. 25 Hillman stole a Chloe Paddington purse from the retail store Panache, located on North Main Street, that was valued at $1,450.

Sira said an uninvolved third party notified the store owner that Hillman had stolen items from the store and was selling them to others. The owner came up with a plan to catch Hillman stealing property from the store, Sira said.

“They set up a plan and Hillman took it hook, line, and sinker and stole the property that they kind of set up for her and it happened to be a $1,450 purse,” Sira said.

Sira said Hillman was not arrested sooner because police were unable to locate her.

Hillman was arraigned in City Court before Judge Traci DiMezza and sent to the Fulton County Jail on $5,000 bail.
