Man allegedly hit wife, troopers say

BROADALBIN – State police said a village man was arrested recently after he allegedly punched his wife.

Ralph L. Crotty, 61, of Broadalbin was charged Sept. 14 with resisting arrest, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing, second-degree harassment, and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Troopers said they received reports of a physical domestic situation at West Main Street in the village. Troopers said the victim, Crotty’s wife, was outside screaming. Troopers said she told them Crotty attacked her inside her home and was holding a bat and a golf club.

Crotty came around the side of the residence and was taken into custody, troopers said, though he resisted.

According to troopers, Crotty’s wife said he came home drunk, began yelling and then punched her in the head before smashing her into the side of the cabinet.

Crotty was arraigned in Town Court and sent to Fulton County Jail with no bail. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday at 3 p.m.
