CANAJOHARIE – The fifth annual candlelight memorial service, sponsored by Court Catherine Esther 1264, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Canajoharie Reformed Church, will take place at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Canajoharie Reformed Church, Front Street.
The Worldwide Candle Lighting unites family and friends who light candles for one hour to honor and remember children who have died from any cause. As candles burn down in one time zone, they are lit in the next, creating a virtual 24-hour wave of light as the observances continues around the world, a news release said. The event unites the families to mourn as one.
Families and friends are invited to attend from all surrounding communities. People can light a candle in memory of a child, sibling or a grandchild who has died.
