CAROGA – The town of Caroga is reminding residents local law #2-2014 regulates ice shanties placed upon any waters located in the town, a news release said.
According to the release, ice shanties must display a minimum of 48 running inches of 3-inch wide reflective tape or 1-square foot of reflective surface on each side of it.
The law was created to contribute to the safety of all who recreate or traverse the frozen waters within the town, the release said.
Owners of shanties found without reflective material shall be subject to a fine of up to $50, the release said.
