Jamcrackers set to play at St. Anne’s

WELLS – The Jamcrackers will be coming to St. Anne’s Catholic Church on Route 30 to perform on Sunday, April 3 at 2 p.m.

This is a group that sings folk and blues, ballads, gospel and dance tunes. Some of the music has an Adirondack theme, a news release said.

The concert is being sponsored by the Virginia Hosley Free Library.

The cost is $10 per person and there will be free refreshments following the show, the release said.

The Jamcrackers consist of three people – Dan Berggren, Peggy Lynn and Dan Duggan. The name of the band is taken from the river drivers who used to break-up log jams, the release said. The Jamcrackers bring a blend of humor, history and musical spirit to their performances, according to a news release.

Berggren has deep roots in the Adirondacks. His music reflects the spirit and the hardworking people of that region. Lynn writes and performs songs about the women and natural beauty of the North Country. Duggan is known for his wizardry on the hammered dulcimer, flat-picking guitar and keyboard, the news release said.

The group has six CDs and have performed many concerts through-out the area.
