LATHAM – Major Gen. Patrick A. Murphy, the adjutant general for the state of New York, announces the promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.
Locals promoted include:
- Daniel Hazzard, from Gloversville, serving with the Company E (Forward Support Company Infantry), 427th Brigade Support Battalion, is promoted to the rank of Private First Class.
- Austin Vanavery, from Fort Plain, serving with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2-108th Infantry, is promoted to the rank of Private.
- Douglas Sherman, from Fort Johnson, serving with the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, Recruiting and Retention Battalion, is promoted to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3.
Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability, and development potential, a news release said.
