EDINBURG – State police said four men were arrested Jan. 26 after taking a safe from a home.
Those charged with first-degree burglary, a felony, are:
– Gage M. Maloney, 21, of Gloversville;
– Jacob T. Beddow, 19, of Johnstown;
– Joseph R. Ryle III, 23, of Gloversville;
– Jordan A. Russell, 21, of Mayfield.
Police said troopers were called Jan. 21 to a home on South Shore Road to investigate reports of people entering the home, assaulting the homeowner and trying to make him open a safe inside the home. The men ultimately took the safe – which contained cash, jewelry and other personal items – and fled, police said.
Police said an intense search and investigation by troopers, who were assisted by police officers from the Glove Cities, over several days resulted in the arrests.
The safe and some of the contents were recovered in a remote area in the town of Mayfield.
The four men were arraigned and sent to the Saratoga County Jail pending further court proceedings.
