GLOVERSVILLE – City police are seeking the driver of a vehicle that struck the Livingston’s Furniture building then left the scene.
Police said the vehicle was driving north on South Main Street when it struck a guide wire for a utility pole and the front of the building at 355 S. Main St. at around 2:54 p.m. Jan. 24 Police said officers canvassed the area but did not locate the vehicle.
Police said store owner Scott Hayes told officers he was in the shop and heard the accident, but did not see it. Hayes went outside and found a white male in his 20s, described as slim with brown hair, exiting the vehicle to look at the damage, police said. The man subsequently got into the vehicle and left the scene, police said.
The accident caused some damage to the building. Three large pieces of the vehicle – including a fog light and parts of a fender – were left behind.
Police said the vehicle is described as a gray 2000-04 Nissan Pathfinder with heavy damage to the front passenger bumper.
Police believe the vehicle was caught on a city security camera traveling down North Street before turning onto Broad Street.
