Elementary school principal resigns

OPPENHEIM – Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Superintendent David Halloran confirmed the Board of Education accepted the resignation of Elementary and Middle School principal Rebecca Marzeski last week.

Marzeski’s resignation will take effect July 1. According to seethroughny.net, Marzeski’s last listed salary was $77,000.

Halloran would not comment on the reason for her resignation.

Pupil Service Director Jeanine Kawrega is serving as the acting principal until further notice.

This is the latest in a series of administrative turnovers at OESJ since Oppenheim-Ephratah merged with St. Johnsville Central School District. Two administrators resigned from the district in 2014. Former High School Principal Ronald Smith resigned to seek other employment opportunities and former Superintendent Laura Lawrence resigned after the school board agreed to buy-out the remainder of her contract at a cost of $250,000.
