Cocaine found in vehicle: police

FORT JOHNSON – State police said a Gloversville man was arrested Saturday after cocaine was found in the vehicle he was driving.

Levoster G. Chandler, 47, of Gloversville was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and first-degree operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Police said a trooper saw Chandler driving through the village at a high rate of speed, and stopped the vehicle. The trooper smelled marijuana while talking to Chandler and conducted a search, police said.

The trooper found 5 grams of marijuana, 1.5 grams of cocaine, “and a brown chunky substance in a small zip lock bag and crushed hydrocodone inside,” the report from police said.

Chandler was arraigned and sent to the Montgomery County Jail on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. He is scheduled to reappear in court.
