Council to make repairs to city court

JOHNSTOWN – The Common Council on Monday approved a new $36,488 agreement with the state to clean and do minor repairs for City Court.

City Clerk Cathy VanAlstyne said Tuesday that the city routinely has to update terms of its agreement. She said city employees clean and repair court spaces on the second floor of City Hall, and the state reimburses the city.

“We do it every year,” VanAlstyne said.

The city entered into an agreement with the State Unified Court System for court cleaning and minor repairs for a five year term (2013-18); but the dates of each period of the contract term must be established by mutual written agreement. A new 2016-17 period was proposed, in the five year term, retroactively to April 1, 2016 and terminating March 31, 2017.
