Six charged with welfare fraud

Six individuals have been arrested and charged with welfare fraud and associated charges.

The cases were investigated by the Montgomery County Department of Social Services Fraud Unit. The arrests were announced Oct. 11 by Montgomery County Department of Social Services Commissioner Michael McMahon.

Five residents of Amsterdam and one resident of Fultonville were charged.

-?Isarys S. Acevedo, 24 of 557 Division St., was charged with one count of third degree welfare fraud and one count of offering a false instrument for filing. Acevedo is alleged to have failed to report household income and received $10,802 in food stamp benefits not entitled to. Acevedo was arraigned in Amsterdam City Court.

-?Andre J. Robles, 32 or 24 Storrie St., was charged with one count of welfare fraud and one count of offering a false instrument for filing. Robles is alleged to have failed to report household income and received $3,797 in food stamp benefits not entitled to. Robles was arraigned in Amsterdam City Court.

-?April Birch, 43 of 208 West Main St., was charged with one count of welfare fraud and one count of offering a false instrument for filing. Birch is alleged to have failed to report household income and received $4,154 in food stamp benefits not entitled to. Birch was arraigned in Amsterdam Police Court.

-?Shelby A. Aney, 32 of 64 Milton Ave., was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument. Aney is alleged to have forged a medical form and presented the form to the Montgomery County Department of Social Services. Aney was arraigned in Amsterdam Police Court.

-?Meaghan E. Savage, 23 of 56 VanDerveer St., was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument. Savage is alleged to have possessed a forged medical form and presented the form to the Montgomery County Department of Social Services. Savage was arraigned in Amsterdam Police Court.

– Tennille A. Duesler, 40 of 4105 State Highway 30 Fultonville, was charged with one count of welfare fraud and one count of offering a false instrument for filing. Duesler is alleged to have failed to report household income and received $8,747 in food stamp benefits not entitled to. Duesler was arrested on a Town of Mohawk Court warrant and was released with appearance tickets to appear in the Town of Mohawk Court today for arraignment.
