Artist for the month announced

FONDA — The Frothingham Free Library, at 28 Main St., announced the artwork of Andrea A. Montanye would be displayed for the month of April.

Montanye attended Mohawk Valley Community College, Munson-Williams-Proctor School of Art, Herkimer County Community College and various local workshops. She has studied oil painting, graphic arts, sculpture, pastels and watercolor painting. She has had the opportunity to work with John Loy, Willard Sauter, Guy Corriero, Don Caliento and James McDermott, according to a news release.

Over the past several years, Montayne has received various awards at the annual Montgomery County Council Juried Art Show, the annual Canajoharie Library and Arkell Museum Regional Art Show. Recently, she received first place in both the GFWC — New York state Federation of Women’s Clubs competition and the GFWC Adirondack District competition.
