Pre-k, kindergarten applications due

JOHNSTOWN — The Greater Johnstown School District is currently accepting applications for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students for the 2017-18 school year.

Pre-k students must be

4 years old on or before Dec. 1 and must reside in the Johnstown School District.

Kindergarten students must be 5 years old on or before Dec. 1. Both classes are held at the Pleasant Avenue School.

The universal pre-kindergarten program addresses instructional components, cognitive skills, social and emotional development and physical skills of children. The program follows the Johnstown school district calendar with morning and afternoon sessions. Transportation will be provided for pre-kindergarten students.

Screenings for kindergarten students will be conducted Tuesday through Thursday for all students who currently have completed registration packets.

Registration packets for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students are available on the district website, or by calling the Johnstown School District Office at (518) 762-4611.

Required documents include the child’s birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency for the parents. All registration packets should be returned to the District Office, 1 Sir Bills Circle, Suite 101, as soon as possible.
