JOHNSTOWN —Recent joint Fulton County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Team training involving four agencies and six K-9 teams resulted in positive drug search results at two schools.
Teams on May 12 searched Mayfield High School and the Broadalbin-Perth High School. Sheriff Richard Giardino reported “good news” — no illegal substances found at either school. After training, he said illegal drugs were actually hidden in lockers unknown to the handlers and all K-9 partners found the substances.
Agencies participating included: Fulton County sheriff’s office K-9 Unit, the state police Troop G K-9 Unit, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, and the Saratoga Springs K-9 Unit.
Giardino said this exercise was the latest in a series of trainings at area schools. He noted it a “very positive” sign when no illegal substances are found. He thanked participating agencies for the effort.
