Yoga series at Nigra Center

GLOVERSVILLE — Dori Daknis will teach a restorative yoga series from 9:30 to 10:13 a.m. on July, 10, 17 and 31 and Aug. 7, 14 and 21 at the Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts, 2726 Route 30.

The gentle yoga postures will be aimed to provide deep relaxation to rejuvenate mind, body and spirit, according to a news release.

The one-hour session is geared to reducing anxiety and stress in a world of constant overwork and overstimulation. Using a variety of relaxation techniques including guided imagery, meditation, reiki, aromatherapy and breath awareness, the class is supposed to melt participants into a state of deep calm designed to bring balance back into their lives, encourage muscles to relax deeply, unwind and feel refreshed and recharged.

Restorative yoga reportedly helps reverse the effects of chronic stress and generate feelings of well-being. It is recommended for those who are exhausted, anxious and eager to learn powerful tools for managing the rigors of modern life.

The cost is $15 for a single class or $60 for the series.
