National Museum Day Live slated

CANAJOHARIE — The national Museum Day Live! will be held at the Arkell Museum on Sept. 23 from noon to 5 p.m.

More than 1,000 museums across the country are participating in the 13th annual initiative recognizing the power of museums and other cultural institutions to provide visitors with insight and inspiration, according to a news release.

The Arkell will explore the connections between art and weather, and the ways in which artists such as Winslow Homer, Albert Bierstadt, Grandma Moses and others played with the wind, the sun, snow, and more in the art. Hands-on art activities for visitors of all ages will be available in a classroom.

Tickets are available to download at www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday, and Arkell will accept both printed or digital versions.
