‘Stories behind the Stones’ tour planned

JOHNSTOWN — The Johnstown Historical Society will present a Living History Walking Tour, “Stories Behind the Stones” on Sept. 16 at the Johnstown Cemetery on North Perry Street. Costumed guides will lead tour groups down winding roads dotted with elaborate headstones. The past will come alive as re-enactors introduce themselves as former residents who helped shape the city of Johnstown and beyond. Vintage cars will be on display, and information boards with interesting historical facts will mark the path.

Walking tours will begin at 1, 1:15 and 1:30 p.m. and will take about 90 minutes.

Tickets are $10 for adults; children 12 and younger will be admitted free. Tour times can be reserved and paid for at www.eventbrite.com or may be purchased on the day of the event, which is a fund-raiser for the historical society.

Rain date will be Sept. 17.
