JOHNSTOWN — Students of Highlights Performing Arts Gymnastics and Dance, 38 W. Main St., recently attended a five-day dance intensive camp.
Under the direction of Kimberly Bartlett, director of Highlights Performing Arts, 16 students recently participated in a week of dance and gymnastics. Head Instructor Meghan Bartlett and camp director Samantha Brown headed up the event.
Students participated in ballet technique, lyrical, contemporary, tumbling and choreography. The event leads the studio into its 30th season. Highlights recently relocated into a fully expanded studio with a tumbling floor, Tumble Trac, and Professional Marley dance floor. The studio provides a full parent waiting area, studio changing area, offices, musical theater room, and full wardrobe for studio productions.
Highlights will be heading into three regional competitions starting in Syracuse in two weeks. This season the studio will attend its national competition after performing in a full production of “Cinderella’s Glass Slipper” on June 9 at Johnstown High School’s performing arts theatre at 1 p.m.
