Law Day celebration slated for May 1

JOHNSTOWN — The Fulton County Bar Association announces this year’s Law Day celebration will take place starting at noon May 1 at the Holiday Inn, 308 N. Comrie Ave. The bar association will present the Liberty Bell Award to an individual recognizing their dedicated service to the community, according to a news release.

The bar association’s key note speaker will be Randy Elf. Currently, there is an effort on Elf’s behalf concerning the Office of New York state Attorney General. At Law Day, Elf will address the topic, “Separation of Powers and the regulation of Political Speech, the news release stated.”

Elf resides in the Jamestown area, Chautauqua County. He was valedictorian at Southwestern Central School. Afterwards, he graduated with honors from Duke University. He was president of law-school class he had at Syracuse University, the news release stated.

Elf is a seasoned practitioner. He was admitted to practice law in 1998. He clerked for two federal judges; Brevard Hand of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama in Mobile, and Alice Batchelder of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Medina, Ohio. He has practiced both at the Federal Election Commission and privately, the news release stated.
