JOHNSTOWN — The Elizabeth Cady Stanton Women’s Consortium will be having the tea with Rose Knox Sept. 15, downstairs at the First Presbyterian Church in Johnstown, according to a news release.
Those attending are asked to use the Clinton St. entrance. There is an elevator available for those who need it.
Rose Knox’s (1857-1950) husband, Charles Knox created the Knox Gelatin business. Charles and Rose Knox moved to Johnstown in 1890 and set up what was to become a successful business. She was one of the first female philanthropists and Johnstown was the recipient of her benevolence.
Anne Niles, retired teacher and history buff, will portray Rose Knox and give a short presentation.
The refreshments at the tea will include hot tea and coffee, tea sandwiches, scones and desserts.
A donation of $12 can be made to benefit the March 28, 2020, ECSWC symposium
