Liberty ARC to host rally on Monday

AMSTERDAM — The Liberty ARC will host a rally at 1 p.m. Monday at the Riverfront Center, aimed at advocating for Gov. Andrew Cuomo to ensure the 2019 New York state budget provides salary funding for direct support professionals working in the industry. Enter the Riverfront Center through the doors near the intersection of Washington Street, Liberty Street and East Main Street, according to a news release.

Those attending will include: Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara, Montgomery County Executive Matthew Ossenfort, Liberty ARC Chief Executive Officer Jennifer Saunders, Schenectady ARC Executive Director Kirk Lewis, Liberty ARC and Schenectady ARC direct support professionals to speak

The Liberty ARC, along with its state agency, The Arc New York, statewide sister agencies and the BFair2DirectCare coalition, is dedicated to fighting for a commitment of years 2019-2020 of a living wage funding in the NYS budget.

Liberty ARC will be joined by local legislators and fellow agencies, Schenctady ARC, Lexington, who support this rate increase, in asking the governor for support.
