Mixed media artist show set for library

FORT PLAIN — The Fort Plain Free Library, 19 Willett St., will host Julie Takacs, mixed media artist, who will present the series of altered books workshops from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 5, 12, and 19, and March (six weeks). The seating is limited so advance registration is suggested, according to a news release.

Takacs said, “During this workshop, you will take a forlorn book that is destined for the trash and transform it into a new book.”

She will walk participants through the steps for deconstruction and reconstruction of a book into their own work using mixed media techniques and a variety of art materials including paint and fabric.

She maintains a practice through teaching and workshops at Mapletown Studio, Canajoharie. She is also an adjunct professor of graphic art and design at the State University of New York at Cobleskill and works part time as a graphic designer.
