NORTHVILLE — Over 40 local Democrats attended a “meet and greet the candidates” session sponsored by the Fulton County Democratic Committee Tuesday night at the Northville Public Library.
In opening the reception, committee Chairman Ed Jasewicz said the Northville event was the first in a series of outreach efforts designed to increase participation and interest among Democratic voters. He said the goal is to increase turnout, not only for the local 2019 elections, but for the 2020 national election.
In addition, the committee is hoping to recruit voters to serve on the committee and to run for office.
Addressing the crowd were: Northville Mayor John Speath, Mayfield Councilwoman Bobbi Ricciardi, Gloversville 5th Ward Supervisor Greg Young, and Max Spritzer, a council candidate for Johnstown’ s Fourth Ward.
The featured speaker was Tedra Cobb of St. Lawrence County, running for the 2020 open 21st District Congressional seat. She said the number one issue she is hearing is health care.
The next event for the committee will be its annual picnic set for August 17 at the Johnstown Moose Lodge.
