NORTHVILLE — Sacandaga Valley Arts Network and Sacandaga Musical Theater will present “Chicago” at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and July 26 and 27 at Northville Central School auditorium, Bridge Street, according to a news release.
In roaring twenties Chicago, chorus girl Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, to take the rap…until he finds out he’s been duped and turns on Roxie.
Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another “Merry Murderess,” Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the “American Dream” — fame, fortune, and acquittal.
This sharp-edged satire features a dazzling score that sparked immortal staging by Bob Fosse. Chicago is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French Inc.
The show is not recommended for audience members younger than 14.
“Chicago” is a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, and with script adaptation by David Thompson.
Tickets will be $12 per person at the door (cash or check only).
