AMSTERDAM — The Foothills Arts Council is sponsoring a no-fee creative writing contest, co-sponsored by the Amsterdam Free Library, 28 Church St. The entries will be accepted from Aug. 10 to Oct. 12, according to a news release.
There will be three categories of writing to be judged: Fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, to be judged by Dan Weaver, columnist, non-fiction; Bill Nelson, Amsterdam High School teacher, fiction; Judith Prest, poet and Foothills member, poetry.
The prizes for three participants in each category: Publication in FAC’s Inspired, Creative Writing Anthology, on the arts council website, two copies of Inspired, and a reading at its launch party at the Amsterdam Free Library, date to be determined.
The winners will be announced on Dec. 12.
