15 miles on the Erie scheduled for today

FORT HUNTER — The 15 Miles on the Erie Canal series continues with paddling scheduled for today, launching from the St. Johnsville Marina.

Guided by environmental educator George Steele, the excursion will begin at 6 p.m. and travel about three miles.

To close out the series, a final paddle launching from the South Amsterdam Marina will take place on Aug. 22, at 6 p.m. Audrey from Down by the River Kayak Rentals will lend her skills and experience to highlight the themes of the series.

Each paddle is scheduled for about two hours on the Mohawk River. Water and weather conditions will determine cancelations. Register online at www.downbytheriverkayakrentals.com.

Schoharie Crossing, along with the Arkell Museum at Canajoharie, and Down by the River Kayak Rentals from South Amsterdam has continued their collaborative paddle series after two of the previously scheduled events have been moved to new dates, due to weather.
