Airplane club set to host charity air show

JOHNSTOWN — The Lazy Eight Radio Control Model Airplane Club will host their 33rd annual charity air show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 17 and 18, at the club’s flying site, 144 Knoblauch Road, (behind Roger’s Family Orchard) to support the Warm the Children program while also promoting public awareness and interest in their sport/hobby, according to a news release.

Follow the signs on Route 29 west of Johnstown. The air show is open to the public both days. There is a suggested donation of $5 per person and children younger than 12 will be admitted free.

This annual charity event is the club’s effort to give back to the community. All proceeds from the gate and Saturday’s silent auction will benefit the Warm The Children program. This program supports the community by providing new, warm winter clothing to local families with children in need. This is a cooperative effort with the Warm the Children and The Leader-Herald.

There will be refreshments available. Bring lawn chairs and cameras for a day for the entire family. For more information, visit: www.lazy8rcclubjohnstownny.com.
