A total of $385,000 in state aid for library construction has been designed for three libraries in Montgomery County, state Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara has announced.
The libraries are as follows:
∫ $245,239 to the Fort Plain Free Library for a new addition and other exterior upgrades.
∫ $72,941 to the Amsterdam Free Library for lighting upgrades.
∫ $66,450 to the Canajoharie Library and Art Gallery for window renovations.
State Aid for Library Construction assists local libraries with construction projects and provides funding for up-to-date technology and resources to accommodate their communities. Many public libraries are unable to accommodate users with disabilities, are not energy efficient, are in outdated buildings, and do not have sufficient space to house the additional resources they now provide.
“Libraries give children and families the opportunity to read, learn explore together,” Santabarbara said. “From providing Internet access to offering job search assistance, they’re integral resources in our communities. This funding will help our libraries complete necessary renovations and expand their facilities so they can continue serving our residents for years to come.”
