First Friday Poets

ST. JOHNSVILLE — Members of First Friday Poets, a group who meets at St. Johnsville’s Margaret Reaney Library, will read from their work Monday, Sept. 23.

The group is under the direction of Ali MacDonald, who will share from her recently published collection; “Second Chances; Poetry for Rescued Dogs.”

MacDonald’s book is dedicated in part to Ayers Animal Shelter who protected MacDonald’s rescue dog “Sweetpea” until they found each other.

Joining MacDonald are local writers Donna Veeder, Jacquelin Devlin, Mary Stolarcyk, Sally Taylor and Rebecca Sokol.

“Every day on social media we see amazingly beautiful stories of forgotten pets who are given a second chance,” said Library Director Dawn Lamphere. “Monday’s program will celebrate those animals and the people who have opened their hearts in creating loving, stable ‘furever’ homes.”

The program will start at 6:30 p.m. The Margaret Reaney Memorial Library is located at 19 Kingsbury Ave.
