Mayfield winter carnival slated to be held on Feb. 8

MAYFIELD — The Mayfield Community winter carnival will be held on Feb. 8, on the Mayfield Lake, Pump House Road (located off Woodside Ave), according to a news release.

The following is the schedule of events:

∫ From 8 a.m. to noon will be the youth fishing contest for up to 15 years of age with parent. Sign up at the Fuel & Food, Route 30 in Mayfield.

∫ All other festivities start at 11 a.m.

∫ From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. will be the children and adult frying pan contest. The winners will be announced at 1 p.m. and the winners do not have to be present to receive prize.

∫ At noon the fishing contest ends and winners will be announced.

∫ At 12:15 p.m. will be the polar plunge. Sign up at the event and a wavier must be signed prior to the plunge.

∫ At 12:30 p.m. will be the kids cardboard box derby for up to age 12. Note: Absolutely no sled can be attached to the box. The box must be made out of cardboard and can use glue, duct tape and paint, etc.

The judging will be for ages 2 to 6 and 7 to 12 with prizes for most original, most creative, best overall and travelling the farthest down the hill.

The other activities will be broom ball, ice skating, football toss, kids hockey puck game, football toss game and ice bowling.
