Disease management group slated to meet

AMSTERDAM — HealthLink Littauer, the community health and wellness service of Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home, will hold an educational program titled “Chronic Disease Self-Management” on Thursday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Willow Tree Wisdom, 6907 Route 30.

“The six-week evidence-based series of classes are specifically designed for anyone with an ongoing health condition such as diabetes, heart disease, COPD, chronic pain, obesity, depression, anxiety… or for those who are caring for someone with an ongoing health issue,” said Tammy Merendo, a registered nurse and Littauer’s director of community education in a news release.

“Participants will learn how to better manage their condition to improve their overall health and quality of life,” she said.

The program is free, and complimentary refreshments are included. Classes will meet once a week for six weeks through March 19.
