FONDA — The Fulmont Community Action Agency held an initial 2020 Census Complete Count Committee meeting Feb. 18. This initial meeting was held to take the steps necessary to reach out to all residents of Fulton County in an attempt to encourage and facilitate an accurate count for the 2020 Census, according to a news release.
Robert Scardamalia, U.S. Census Bureau liaison, spoke to the group about the importance of an accurate census count, and how it affects federal funding locally as well as the number of federal representatives that represent Fulton County. Additionally, Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R-Meco) emphasized to those present the importance of a complete count.
Those in attendance included representatives of FCAA, Fulton County Office for the Aging and Youth, Fulton-Montgomery Mental Health Association, Fulton County Department of Health, Fulton-Montgomery Community College, Fulton-Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce, Captain Community Services, United Way of Fulton County, Gloversville Senior Center, First Presbyterian Church of Johnstown, and Smullen.
The next meeting is scheduled from 9:30 to 11 a.m. March 24, at the Gloversville Senior Center, 53 Church St., Gloversville. The interested community leaders, government officials and representatives of businesses and non-profit agencies are welcome to attend.
