GCSD to celebrate girls in sports day

GALWAY — The Galway Central School District will join entities across the nation to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Thursday with the following schedule, according to a news release.

∫ From 1 to 2:15 p.m., girls in grades three to eight will hear from Wesleyan University Head Field Hockey Coach Chistine Kemp, who will share stories about the life she has had, career path, and the opportunities that athletics provided. Kemp was a two-sport athlete at Skidmore College.

∫ From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., each of Galway’s girls’ varsity sports will host a 15-minute clinic for girls in grades three to six. The girls will have the opportunity to meet the varsity players and coaches and try each varsity sport that Galway currently offers.
