Glen Mohawk Senior Meeting

The regular meeting of the Glen Mohawk Seniors was called to order by Vice President Gloria Kimball at 10:30 a.m. The Morning Prayer was given by Chaplin Allan Taylor. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited by all members.

Allan Buck came in and spoke about the craft fair that will be held at Wemple and Edick’s in Sammonsville. Will be held Sept. 4 and 5, also the 11 and 12.

Vice President Gloria Kimball took roll call.

The Secretary’s Report was read by Gloria Kimball. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Barbara Furman and seconded by Connie Hoyer.

A vote was taken to accept the reading of the minutes and was passed by the membership.

Olive Taylor read the Treasurer’s Report..

Communications Secretary Phyllis Smith will be sending a sympathy card to the Dumar Family.

Committee report

Lu Wilmot gave us a report on the Turning Stone trip. Everyone who attended had a good time. Also, the Trip Committee is working on two future trips which they will update us at the next meeting.

Gloria Kimball reminded us that next week we will be having a Hawaiian Party. If possible come dressed in Hawaiian attire.

Kimball also said that she had the sign up for the OFA Picnic and the tickets are $10 each. Kimball also passed around some photos that were taken at the summer picnic.

Unfinished business

Phyllis Smith did the first reading of the revised By-Laws.

Cara Bruno stopped in and asked members if they had any small cosmetic bags that she can use to put in hygiene items in for young girls.

New business

Gloria Kimball said she is setting up a Painting with a Purpose event. It will consist of no more than 10 people at a time.

She will set up two sessions. Sept 14 and Sept 21. The cost will depend on refreshments and she will let us know as we get closer to the event.

Kimball also said that Molly Capito will be here on November 2, 9, 16 and 30 to hold nutrition classes which will begin immediately after our regular meeting ends.


Everyone was reminded that we will be collecting for the FFCS Backpack Program the first meeting in September.

Cara Bruno gave us an update on the Glen Mohawk Clergy who will do a ecumenical worship service on Sept. 5 at 11 a.m. at the Old Court House followed by a picnic, Sept. 12 there will be an outside service at the church with a barbecue at 10:30 a.m., on Nov. 19 there will be a Living Nativity worship at the new park at Park Street. It will be held between 3 and 6 p.m., and Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. there will be a Thanksgiving Service at church.

Lu Wilmot also shared her work on sock dolls that she makes and they are for sale. You can talk to Lu if you are interested in buying one.

Deb Whiting gave us an update on Charlene Fonda’s progress. She is doing better. Hopefully she will be home soon.

Joe Mancini thanked everyone for the get well cards he received while he was out.

Gloria also said that Charlene Fonda wanted to thank everyone who sent her a get well card.

Daily raffle

Winner of the first prize was Gloria Kimball and second prize was won by Andrea Mancini. Winners of the mystery prizes were, Pat Putman, Lu Wilmot and Mary Fox.


A motion to adjourn was made by Lu Wilmot and seconded by Connie Hoyer. The closing prayer was given by Chaplin Allan Taylor.

The meeting ended at noon.
