Animal cruelty workshop set for Oct. 30

JOHNSTOWN — Sponsored by Fulton County Regional SPCA, law enforcement personnel and animal rights advocates will be coming together for a community education workshop on animal cruelty on Oct. 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 308 N. Comrie Ave.

Check-in starts 8:30a.m., and the program begins 9 a.m. sharp. Beverages and snacks will be provided. Cost will be $10 per person. All attendees must pre-register; registration deadline is Oct. 23.

This workshop, “Identifying Animal Cruelty and What YOU Can Do About It,” will cover not only what exactly animal cruelty means but how you can help to stop it. Also to be discussed are the current animal cruelty laws and, if convicted, what punishments can be imposed in New York state.

During the workshop, actual animal cruelty cases that happened locally will be reviewed by the law enforcement officers who worked on the case to help provide a better understanding to community members, the release said.

Registration for this workshop is available only online at fcrspca.org/animal-cruelty-seminar-1021. For more information, visit its website at www.fcrspca.org or email [email protected].
