Symposium cancelled again
JOHNSTOWN — The Elizabeth Cady Stanton Women’s Consortium announced that due to the ramifications of COVID and the lack of available facilities at this time, the March ECS Women’s Symposium originally scheduled for 2020 has again been canceled.
The ECSWC hopes to hold a smaller event this March in celebration of Women’s History Month. More information will be announced at a later date.
Those who would like a refund from the original 2020 Symposium may send a note and a self addressed envelope to ECSWC, PO Box 251, Johnstown, NY 12095.
The Consortium thanks all for their understanding and support.

Experimental aircraft group to meet
GALWAY — The Adirondack Chapter 602 of the Experimental Aircraft Association will host its general membership meeting on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the C&R Restaurant on State Route 29.

Scholarship applications now available
FULTON COUNTY – Applications for the Roberta M. Knapp Testamentary Trust four-year scholarship are now available to current year and former high school graduates of Fulton County school districts interested in pursuing a career in the field of veterinary medicine.
Preference will be given to those applicants who express interest in a veterinary practice. The application deadline is May 1.
Current year graduates and former graduates of the Broadalbin-Perth Central School District, Gloversville Enlarged School District, Greater Johnstown School District, Mayfield Central School District and Northville Central School District may contact their respective school’s guidance department for application forms.

Fort Plain moves village meeting
FORT PLAIN — The Village of Fort Plain Board’s regular meeting for March has been changed due to Election Day on the originally scheduled date.
The March meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on March 22 at the Fort Plain Senior Center, 204 Canal St.

Broadalbin to host Budget Workshop Meeting on Tuesday
BROADALBIN — The Village of Broadalbin, Board of Trustees Workshop Meeting for 2022-23 Budget will be held on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Village Municipal Building, 16 W. Main St., Broadalbin, NY 12025.

Northville to host budget workshop
NORTHVILLE — The Village of Northville Board of Trustees will conduct a Budget Workshop on March 14 at 6:30 p.m.
The March monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees will be moved to March 22 at 7 p.m. due to Village Elections being conducted on March 15 from noon to 9 p.m.
All meetings and elections are conducted in the Conference room of the municipal building located at 412 S. Main St., Northville.
All meetings are open to the public. One must be a registered voter in the village of Northville to participate in the Village elections. If you have questions regarding eligibility to vote, please contact Fulton County Board of Elections at 518-736-5526.

New singers welcome to join Mohawk Valley Chorus
AMSTERDAM — The Mohawk Valley Chorus has started rehearsals for its annual pops concert series, featuring Broadway show tunes, scheduled for May 14 and 15. The chorus, under the direction of David M. Rossi and accompanied by Alyssa Rizzo, rehearses Monday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Inman Senior Center, 53 Guy Park Ave. New singers are welcome and should arrive between 6:30 and 6:45 p.m. to register and pick up music. Prospective singers may participate through March 14 without making a commitment to join. All singers are currently required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and wear masks during rehearsals. Annual dues are $45 for new members and are due by March 14. High school students are welcome to join for free. GJSD board petitions available Monday
JOHNSTOWN — Beginning Monday, qualified residents of the Greater Johnstown School District who are interested in seeking a seat on the Board of Education may pick up nominating petitions at the Knox Building between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on weekdays when school is in session.
Two seats will be up for election for three-year terms that begin on July 1.
Nominating petitions must be signed by at least 100 qualified district voters and filed in the District Clerk’s Office no later than 5 p.m. on April 27.
The election will take place during the annual school budget vote on May 17. Petition packets may also be requested by calling 518-762-4611, Ext. 3119, or by email to [email protected].

B-P school Board meets Monday
BROADALBIN — The Board of Education of the Broadalbin-Perth Central School will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. on Feb. 28 at the Broadalbin-Perth High School, 100 Bridge St.

PERTH — The Town of Perth Planning Board Meeting scheduled for Monday has been canceled due to lack of applications.

Historical society to host event March 12
GLOVERSVILLE – The Fulton County Historical Society will host Agent Paranormal from 7 to 10 p.m. on March 12 at the museum, 237 Kingsboro Ave. The Agent Paranormal team will present some of their past cases and evidence. Attendees will have an opportunity to investigate one of Fulton County’s most haunted buildings alongside the professionals, using high-tech equipment and techniques. Tickets are $30 for FCHS Members and $35 for non-members and can be purchased at fultoncountyhistoricalsociety.org. Your ticket includes two slices of cheese pizza and a beverage. Attendance is limited and tickets are required. All proceeds support the FCHS and its mission to acquire, preserve and promote the history of Fulton County. Nigra Center to host Photoshoot
GLOVERSVILLE — The Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts is hosting a special event targeted toward children and families on March 12.
A “Superhero Photoshoot,” will take place on March 12, with time slots available for reservation between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The event will take place at the Nigra Arts Center, 2736 State Highway 30, Gloversville.
The Superhero Photoshoot is open to children and adults of all ages, as well as full families and small groups.
The $50 registration fee reserves a 15-minute session in which participants transform into their favorite superheroes and pose on an immersive studio set.
Photographer Todd Bailey will help each model engage in their characters and strike heroic poses for fun and striking keepsake images. Senior center plans several events
GLOVERSVILLE — The Senior Citizens Service Center of Gloversville & Fulton County is looking forward to spring with plans for several special events in March. April and May.
The center plan of a special members only meal celebration the date is not determined yet. The meal will celebrate the arrival of spring and free to all paid up members so get your card now, only $10 for the entire year. Non-members will be asked to donate $5. Sign up at any Wednesday or Saturday meal or drop in at any open day 8:30 a.m. to noon. The center is closed Thursdays.
Plans are also underway for another “special” free Vet’s meal. Free to all veterans and one guest. This celebration for our veterans is in addition to current our monthly Vet’s free meal. There will also be special giveaways for this event including gift certificates at local merchants and businesses. Advance sign-up is required. Our last special baked ham dinner was well attended by local veterans.
A special Garden Club is going to kick off in April and operate throughout the summer. Fliers for this are now available.
Cell phone users classes are beginning again in March. Three classes on Mondays. No charge for seniors. Get the flyer and drop in at class times.

Wells church set to host dinner
WELLS — The Wells United Methodist Church is hosting a chicken and Biscuit Dinner on Wednesday from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
The menu is chicken in gravy over biscuits by Bev Peters, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, green beans and carrots. Desserts for take-out are apple pie, chocolate delight, or brownie. Dine-in will also have other dessert options plus beverage. Cost is by donation.
For take-out, drive next to side door of church and an attendant will bring your meals to your car window. Drop donation in the pail provided. For dine-in, please park behind the church to keep the take-out lane open and enter the side door.
The church is located near the center of Wells on Route 30.

Free movie screening slated for monday

FONDA — The next monthly Fulmont Community Action Agency Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for March 7 at 5 p.m. in Room 214, Montgomery County Annex Building in Fonda. The public is welcome to attend.
