JOHNSTOWN – The force is strong with Taryn Ringer, but those who have followed her field hockey career from Johnstown High to Duke University likely already knew that.
On Wednesday, though, Ringer got to show off her skills on the Duke Field Hockey’s Twitter account, her lightsaber skills, to mark Star Wars Day, May the Fourth.
To mark the start of the day, the account Tweeted out a short video of Ringer twirling a lightsaber and enjoying herself as she went.

“The force is strong with this one and May the 4th be with you!” the Duke tweet went.
The tweet – and Ringer’s demonstration – even garnered a response from the official Star Wars Twitter account.
“Taryn is very skilled with the lightsaber! Happy #StarWarsDay!” @StarWars responded.
Ringer played her freshman season at Duke last fall, all after setting records at Johnstown. She posted 44 goals and 10 assists her junior year, numbers that made her the leading scorer in Section II and the state and fourth in the nation.
She scored 110 goals and had 38 assists during her career at Johnstown, which started when she was in eighth grade. Her performance then earned her spot at Duke, fulfilling her childhood dream.
