GLOVERSVILLE – A city man was arrested Dec. 28 on drug and weapon charges.
Police said they found marijuana, hallucinogenic drugs and a cache of electronic devices while investigating a report of a domestic dispute at the apartment he shared with his girlfriend.
Police said Eric Sleezer, 32, of 15 N. Judson St., Apartment 2, had locked his girlfriend’s cell phone in a safe during the dispute.
When she was able to call police, he left the residence, police said. Sleezer later contacted police to report the window to his vehicle had been smashed, and officers learned his girlfriend, Taria Kadle, was responsible, police said.
Kadle, 22, was charged with criminal mischief.
Police said as the investigation continued, it was learned that Sleezer possessed a large quantity of marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms.
The Detective Division of the city Police Department then obtained a warrant to search a storage unit that Sleezer rents on North Main Street.
Police said a search of the storage unit and the apartment yielded about 27.6 ounces of marijuana, 27 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms, a quantity of LSD, numerous prescription medications in unlabeled containers, a shotgun and a rifle.
Police estimate the street value of the marijuana alone is $5,000.
Police also seized a variety of electronic equipment thought to be stolen property, including TVs, mp3 players, cell phones, DVD players, VCRs, stereo equipment, iPods, iPhones, CD players, handheld video games, cameras and GPS units, the news release said.
All the property was secured and transported to the Police Department and entered into evidence.
Sleezer was charged with: second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a class D felony; second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony; fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony; fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child.
“The possession of a weapon charge was based upon him being a convicted felon prior to this,” Chief Donald VanDeusen said. “He can’t posess a firearm.”
Sleezer was sent to the Fulton County Jail and held in lieu of bail.
Anyone with information regarding the case or any of the seized property is asked to call Detective Sgt. Mike Jory at 773-4569.
