House fire in Galway

Firefighters battled a house fire Thursday on County Highway 45 across from the former Top Notch Tavern in Galway. There were no injuries, officials said. Galway Fire Chief Russell DeRidder said officials received the call at 10:33 a.m. He said one family member was home when the fire broke out around the chimney. A neighbor noticed the flames and warned the occupant, said DeRidder, who added the fire is still under investigation. Firefighters from Broadalbin-Kennyetto, Galway, Hagaman, Perth, Providence and West Charleston were on the scene.
