AMSTERDAM – A city man was killed in a one-car rollover accident Wednesday morning on Route 5, state police at Fonda reported.
Lester Rivera Jr., 35, of Slater Street, was partially ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police said the vehicle went off the highway and into a field in the town of Amsterdam at about 8:50 a.m.
An autopsy was pending Wednesday afternoon at St Mary’s Hospital.
The cause of the accident was still under investigation Wednesday, police said.
State police were assisted at the scene by the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the Cranesville and Hagaman fire departments, police said.
