GLOVERSVILLE – City police said officers arrested a man Friday after finding 2 pounds of marijuana in his apartment.
Fred Jack, 20, of 6 Lexington Ave., Apartment 3, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal sale of marijuana, a misdemeanor.
Police said officers responded to a tip regarding a strong smell of marijuana at 6 Lexington Ave. Officers encountered two males leaving the residence and began speaking with them, police said.
Officers determined the two had come from Apartment 3, police said, and officers could smell marijuana in the hallway.
Officers went to the apartment to speak with Jack. While inside the apartment, police said, officers saw a large quantity of marijuana.
Police said detectives were called to the apartment. Detectives found more than 2 pounds of marijuana, as well as scales and numerous boxes of plastic baggies that are commonly used in the sale of marijuana, police said.
Police estimate the street value of the marijuana seized is about $6,400. Detectives also located nearly $3,000 cash in the apartment.
Jack was arraigned in City Court by Judge Traci DiMezza and sent to the Fulton County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail.
Possession charge
Police said during the investigation, officers learned one of the men leaving as officers arrived, Scott Allan Gee, 24, of 25 Henry St., Amsterdam, had purchased marijuana from Jack in the apartment.
Gee was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and released on an appearance ticket.
