GLOVERSVILLE – A city man was arrested Saturday after he fired a handgun in the direction of his father and 11-year-old brother during a dispute, city police said.
Lovell Armstrong, 22, of 33 Clyde St., was charged with felony counts of first-degree menacing and first-degree reckless endangerment.
Police said the altercation occurred about 8:45 p.m. at 28 Grand St., the home of Armstrong’s father.
Police said Armstrong had gone to his father’s house to confront him about a personal matter. After a verbal argument, police said, Armstrong fired the handgun and then left the area in a BMW with a female driver.
Johnstown police officers later stopped the vehicle in Johnstown, police said.
Police said they believe Armstrong went to his residence at 33 Clyde St. after leaving his father’s house and then went to Johnstown with the female.
Police said Grand Street neighbors said they heard a gunshot, but officers found no shell casing or bullet. The handgun was not found in the vehicle, police said.
Armstrong was arraigned and sent to the Fulton County Jail by City Court Judge Traci DiMezza.
Police said the investigation remains open and more arrests are possible.
Anyone with information about the incident should call Detective Sgt. Mike Jory at 773-4569, police said.
