GALWAY – A Saratoga County motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon in the town after his bike was struck by a car driven by a Gloversville motorist, state police said.
A news release from state police said the fatal crash occurred at about 3:15 p.m. in the vicinity of Route 29 and Fishhouse Road in the town.
The release said motorcyclist John J. Macklin, 62, of Corinth was pronounced dead at the scene. A 9-year-old male passenger on the bike – who was not identified – was transported to the Albany Medical Center Hospital with multiple fractures.
Troopers said the operator of the car – Clyde Jones III, 47, of Gloversville – was treated at the scene and released. Two passengers in his vehicle – an unidentified 19-year-old woman and a four-year-old boy – also were transported to the medical center with non-life threatening injuries.
The release said Jones’ car crossed the center line for unknown reasons and it struck the motorcycle head-on. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
State police in Latham are asking anyone with information related to the accident to call 899-2319.
