Public hearing set for airport lease deal

JOHNSTOWN – The Fulton County Board of Supervisors set a public hearing in May on whether to extend the lease agreement term of the county airport’s manager for another five years.

The hearing for an extension of the county’s current contract with The 195 Factory, LLC, was set for 1:30 p.m. May 13 at the County Office Building.

The supervisors set the hearing at their Monday meeting.

“We actually have to have a public hearing, and we’ll approve [the lean extension] next month,” said county Administrative Officer Jon Stead.

The hearing will be conducted two days after the current lease for The 195 Factory expires.

That lease has been in place since 2008. The 195 Factory -an aircraft replacement parts manufacturer – manages the airport for the county on a daily basis. William Milton, owner of the business, in a Nov. 5 letter to the county, indicated he wants to renew his lease agreement.

In other business at the board’s monthly session:

Supervisors awarded a $469,676 bid to Southworth Milton of Clifton Park for purchase of a compactor to be used at the county landfill.

A $31,240 bid was awarded to Phoenix Graphics of Rochester for election supplies and printed materials for use in the county Board of Elections through 2014.

The board approved a resolution honoring founding county Youth Bureau board member Stephen S. Spurza, who died March 12.

The board also named youth representatives Jada Diodato and Greg Mytelka, as well as general member Denise Benton, to the youth board.

Broadalbin Supervisor Joseph DiGiacomo read a board proclamation declaring May Older Americans Month in Fulton County.

He said there are about 11,000 county residents age 60 and older.

The board accepted a $29,200 grant from the state Department of Criminal Justice Services.

Funds are earmarked for salary increases and fringe benefits for certain employees in the office of District Attorney Louise Sira. Stipends were allocated as follows: first assistant district attorney – $10,102; second assistant district attorney – $8,377; third assistant district attorney – $5,401; and confidential secretary – $1,556.
