JOHNSTOWN -The Fulton County Sheriff’s Department announced the death of K-9 Mocha on Wednesday at Shaker Veterinary Hospital.
According to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Association Facebook page, Sheriff Thomas Lorey issued a statement indicating his office “grieves the loss” of the 9-year-old chocolate lab police dog. Mocha served the county and surrounding communities from 2005 to his retirement in early 2012. The sheriff noted the dog was taken to the hospital by his partner, Officer Burton Simonds, after the K-9 became ill.
Lorey said Mocha “loved children,” and throughout his service, was used “countlessly” for detecting unlawful drugs and tracking missing people.
