B-P board re-elects president

BROADALBIN – The Broadalbin-Perth Central School District Board of Education, at its annual reorganizational meeting this week, re-elected the incumbent president and elected a new vice president to serve on the board for the 2013-14 school year.

The board unanimously elected Edward Szumowski to serve as president for another year and nominated and approved Robert Becker to serve as vice president of the board, said district clerk Georgia Baldwin.

The board also appointed Marco Zumbolo to serve as district treasurer/ school business administrator for the 2013-14 school year at a fixed salary of $106,369.

The board appointed Baldwin as district clerk for the 2013-14 school year at a fixed salary of $5,242.

Baldwin said she has the full-time position of secretary for the superintendent. The clerk position will involve additional duties.

The board also agreed to hold its monthly meetings on the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m.

However, there will be the following exceptions: the Jan. 20 meeting (Martin Luther King Day) will be Jan. 27; the Feb. 17 meeting that would fall on winter break will be held Feb. 24; and the April 21 meeting that is during spring break will be moved to April 28.
