JOHNSTOWN – Johnstown Councilman-at-Large Bryan Marcucci and a family member want to open a microbrewery and restaurant at 18 W. Main St., and the Fulton County Center for Regional Growth is considering lending money for the project.
Marcucci said he and his son-in-law, Jim Rockwell, have been working on the building since 2010 and want to secure financing before moving ahead with the project.
Marcucci previously said beer would be made on the site. He formed Black Tie Pub N Brew to develop the project.
CRG President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Reese said NBT Bank is involved in the estimated $200,000 project. He said he is reviewing the business plan to determine if the CRG wants to be a co-lender.
“I met with [Reese] two weeks ago,” Marcucci said. “Personally, I haven’t heard anything.”
Retail outlet
Reese said he also met with an entrepreneur interested in opening a small retail outlet on Main Street in downtown Gloversville.
Reese, who didn’t reveal the entrepreneur’s name, said he reviewed the business plan.
He said the Gloversville Economic Development Corp. will be approached about possible financing for the business.
Yogurt facility
Reese also said he attended a meeting with a company considering building a strained yogurt whey processing facility in New York state. He said the company is considering Johnstown – because yogurt maker Fage USA is there – and Chenango County. The facility would create about 35 jobs, he said.
